Easily one of the best castlevania games,right under symphony of the night.The bosses are excellent,the weapon synthesis and soul release system give it just the right amount of rpg elements.The touch screen features, such as breaking crystal blocks with the stylus while on a moving platform,or drawing magic seals to finish off a boss add a whole new element to the franchise..My only minor complaint is the anime art style cutscenes..Hey konami,lose them!!....Still a must buy for castlevania fans if you can find a copy! If you're a fan of the series, you have to get it. Period. If you aren't, you should consider it. The gameplay is addictive, the art is good, and the castle remains fun to explore time after time to complete your "soul collection" and find secrets.
The one drawback is that you may be confused about the storyline if you haven't played the predecessors to this game; indeed, the storyline is the one area I'm a little bit disappointed in. The sequential quality of the it can lead to a feeling of having "missed something" if you haven't been keeping up with the series.
All in all, a good game for fans and a good buy for someone looking for something a little different to play for a week.
