Customer Review: A short, short time ago, on a DS not very far away.
Summary: 4 Stars
I started playing this with low expectations, expecting it to be some cheap kids game designed to just grab kid's and star wars fan's attention. But I soon found it was actually quite fun.
You start off in the Canteena from New Hope, and from there you can walk around and find doors to enter for what level you want to do. When you first start you can only go in one, but as you progress through the game, you have the option of entering 6 doors. 3 of which consist of stages to New Hope, Empire and Return Of the Jedi levels. The other 3 are some bonus areas and lego ships of the Star Wars merchandise (pretty much a promo for lego)
What makes this game interesting is you can have up to 4 characters running around with each other at once. All while on 1 player. Take for example, the level might be start off as Princess Leigh and her Body Guard or whoever he is, then run through the levels, kill things, blow things up and meet say, RD-D2 and C-3Po, and they will join you for the stage.
Everyone of the 4 chars does play there part. Jedi's have a light Sabre weapon and the ability to use the force on certain areas. Soldiers have an ability to use a rope to swing to different platforms. And droids are used to unlock certain doors ect... there is also other things like costumes needed, like getting a Storm Trooper mask to open a specific door, or be a bounty hunter ect..
Each level is somewhat a re-enactment of the scenes from Star Wars. So to kick it off, the first thing you are doing is controlling Leigh and the droids to get them off the ship to Tattooine.
However, don't go looking for detail or exact references that seem in place. Remember, it's just a Lego version, something fun. So if your character starts dancing jumping for joy, keep in mind, it is just for fun.
The graphics are OK for a DS game. But the thing that bugs me is in certain levels you need to jump on things like swinging logs from trees on Endor, and I really could have used a camera selection to choose a better angle then the poor one given. It made it hard to see where you where trying to jump to, I suppose you could say you need to use the force, tho I would throw you in with a Rancor if you did.
Overall, it's a pretty good little game. It's just for fun; sp take it for what it is. A G rated Star Wars game in the Lego universe.
