Video Game Reviews of Lego Star Wars: The Complete SagaCustomer Review: A short time ago, on a DS not that far far away Summary: 4 Stars
First thing I wanna say is something I think is important. This "Saga" version is NOT a combination of the other 2 Lego Star Wars games. This one is very much different, and improved, especially on the vehicle stages, on the other two, levels like, for example, the snow speeder stage where very sloppy controls and hard to handle, in this version, it's greatly improved and a lot more fun with complete control over your movements. If I was to recommend any of the Star Wars Lego games, it is definitely this one. Although the other two are quite enjoyable, this one the have worked out the kinks.
So you start off in the Canteena of New Hope, to some very familiar Star Wars music. Graphic wise is not that bad for DS, a few reviewers have said they look bad compared to console versions, or compared them to other games, but if that bothers you so much, go play your other games then. From the canteena there are a few doors. 2 sets of 3 lead to the levels, ranging from 1 to 6, which are Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi. Each containing 5 rooms each, which is 5 levels to each episode of the sage. There is also a few other doors, one leads to a mini game room that has a few options and such, another leads to the outside of the Canteena which is just for fun, but no reason to go out, and another leads to a room if you wanna play wi-fi or check what kits you have built and what not (bonus stuff).
In game is much like the other Lego games. Tho if you have never played one, what usually happens is you only have access to stage one, and you play via story mode. You view a cut scene, which is not that bad on these DS versions, then enter the level and begin play. During story mode, you are limited to what characters you have, you often start with 2, and sometimes obtain a few more along the way. Each character has their own ability, some have Jedi skills, which means your weapon is a lightsabre, and you also have use of "The Force" which can be used to open, or destroy things that glow. Others have guns, bombs, ropes, ability to access certain panels etc... sometimes when you access these panels you will go into a mini-game to open the door. Something like match the Lego blocks by either tapping the screen like playing pairs, or rotating things, or just touch them as they fall.. it varies.
The stages all have Star Wars elements to them, so it does not feel like a game that was made and just had the Star Wars logo slapped on it for no reason, and it's not one of those annoying endless cycles of the same old thing. There is plenty of action, things to discover, stuff to unlock, and all your fave Star Wars characters should be in the game. Once you have completed story mode, you can enter free play, which means, if you have unlocked more characters, you can enter the level with I think up to 8 characters. Unfortunately, like in Lego Batman, you can't actually pick your team of characters, you just pick one and the rest are auto picked for you, but each will have the powers you need to access/find/destroy/open things in the level.
Some people complained somethings where a bit hard in this game. I didn't think so, it's just some things took a few goes to work out how to do it. I think the hardest thing was obtaining the red-brick from the duel with the Emperor. But I soon worked out, stick to the top of the level, and jump the throne/chair, and using the sith force on those four bricks will work, without one of them turning back off on you again.
Overall, great for all ages, a lot of fun, and will take you a while to complete everything.
