Video Game Reviews of Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Customer Review: Addictive
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with everyone that says this is addictive! It really is! I couldn't put it down. Hours went by and I didn't even realize. Once you finish all the puzzles, you can get a weekly puzzle through wi-fi. I don't have fast internet, though. I wonder how long they will be doing that. Most of the puzzles aren't really ones you would do again because it's only the same answer/method. I don't know how fun this will be for me later. It was great, though.

I highly recommend that you wait if you have important things to do, because you'll find some reason to blow everything off! Very bad! Now I have to go do last minute homework!

Customer Review: One of the best casual game for adult players
Summary: 5 Stars

I strongly recommend Layton to anyone who has not played video games before but likes puzzles and brain trainings. I think this Professor Layton series and the Ace Attorney are the best casual games for adults, to the extent that even the adults who have not played games before, can get addicted. This is not just a collection of puzzles. A combination of video, music, graphics, storyline, and interactivity of puzzles makes this game far different from a book of puzzle. I am not sure how to classify this game precisely. RPG without battles or casual novel game plus brain training may be the best way to describe this game. I suspect even someone who are not interested in puzzles will ultimately find Layton very interesting as this one has many aspects.
My wife (40s) who has never played games and still does not like playing traditional video games got addicted in this one. She used to read a book or watch TV on bed before going to sleep but now she plays casual games like Layton instead. I am not sure if everyone will be able to sleep and dream well after playing Layton but she says that this works for her at least. I bought a white DS for her in addition to my daughter.

Customer Review: can't say much more than has been said
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is great. Really makes you think, and even though sometimes it's frustrating, all puzzles have an answer. I've gotten about 60 so far out of 130 (i think) and had no help other than in-game hints, and i've solved all that i've discovered. Make sure to tap on everything in every scene, you never know where a hint coin or hidden puzzle might be hiding. Great for bus/train commutes, time flies!

Customer Review: Logic Puzzles Around Every Corner
Summary: 5 Stars

I haven't had this much fun with a DS game in ages.

Around every corner is a logic puzzle or riddle that tantilizes those parts of your brain that too many of us let atrophe once we're no longer in math class.

The subject matter might be ok for teenagers or kids (mild murder mystery story), but as an adult I'm having a great time with this game, its pace and its reward structure.

Customer Review: Can't wait for the next one!
Summary: 5 Stars

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an extremely addictive game. The storyline, characters, interaction, and most importantly the puzzles are all astounding. The puzzles range from easy to difficult depending on the player but with such an interesting story to fall back on, I can assure that all gamers who enjoy puzzles would have a blast with this one. The original Japanese versions already have a second game out with a third on its way. I can't wait for the second English version to come out!
