Video Game Reviews of My Spanish CoachCustomer Review: Worth the Buy Summary: 4 StarsIf you're really looking to learn a little spanish, buy this game. Don't hesitate, don't think just do it. It's helpful, easy, and fun. It starts out with a basic knowledge check so if you have a little spanish in your background you don't have to start from square one. There are eight different mini games to play to "master" the words. Also, theres a dictionary, look up, translator, and phrase book you can look at.
my only complaint about this game is that after you hit a certain level it stops giving you your words as a theme and gives you 10 random words for instance mine are, accordingly, despair, fender, housewares, and log. Which for me makes it harder to remember
Customer Review: Fun and helpful!! Summary: 4 StarsThis is a very fun game but also a great learning device. I wasn't sure it was going to help me that much, but it has been really helpful thus far. I am only part way through and have refreshed and learned more information than I did in my 2 years of high school Spanish class. I highly recommend this game for anyone who needs to brush up to take a college course or just to better your Spanish skills.
Customer Review: Spanish made easy Summary: 5 StarsWhat an awesome little addition to my DS games. I bought this on a whim, thinking I'd like to learn a bit of Spanish. I expected a very basic game. Instead, I received a very involved Spanish tutoring tool. It starts out with a simple test to judge what you already know and then starts you're learning from there. Each lesson covers about 10 words and focuses on memorizing them. However, it also throws in some grammer and sentence structure as you go along. I'm only on lesson 17, but so far I think this is one of the best ways to learn a new language. I haven't even unlocked the entire potential of this game, but I am throughly impressed so far.
This game works best with headphones in quiet areas so you can hear the pronounciation of the words.
Customer Review: Great if you want to learn a new language!!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis game is really a great buy! I use the game like every other day because I'm so busy, but it's very easy to get used to! And it won't let you move onto the next lesson until you've "mastered" the current one which I think is great! It has neat games that you can play (one is similar to the classic game "whack-a-mole" where you have to tap the animals with the words corresponding to what's said to you in english) that helps you master words even quicker!
I really enjoy this game! Spanish is an easy language to learn. This is much more fun than sitting in a classroom environment listening to someone blab on and on confusing you even more. It also has what I call a playback feature in which you can listen to the word or phrase said in spanish and then record your own voice saying the word or phrase. I use it to compare mine to the "instructor's" so that I know I'm pronouncing it correctly.
I recommend you use it daily or every other day and apply what you learn outside of the game to help you remember! ;-) So worth the money!
Customer Review: MOSTLY VOCABULARY BUT GOOD DRILLS Summary: 4 StarsI've been using this game pretty much non-stop for the past 2-3 weeks. My vocabulary has expanded, and I am totally addicted.
Only a few caveats: (1) Once you get through the 41 (or so) lessons, it gives you random groups of 10 words to use. They are not necessarily connected, so it's harder to learn them. (2) The games are fun, but they get a little tedious, and it never gives you English and asks you to remember the Spanish, which is what you have to do in real Spanish communication. (3) The "lessons" don't ask you to do anything. They are just translations, and you can compare your own pronunciation to the Spanish speaker (which is cool). (4) There's no reading or writing and no pictures.
That said, it is an excellent review of vocabulary and I love how it groups the words in tens so the lessons are not overwhelming. I also love how it constantly brings back the "mastered" words so you don't forget them once you get enough points.
I would recommend this Spanish-learning game, but it could be better. I wish there were another Spanish-learning game for DS to compare it to.
