The LEGO games that have been put out are just spectacular. I first played Lego Star Wars and was so impressed with the game play and kid-friendlyness that I decided to pursue the other games in the franchise.
I am a HUGE DC comics fan, so when I heard they were coming out with LEGO Batman, I was super-pumped! And it has generally lived up to my expectations.
The gameplay is almost exactly like the other Lego games, but has added functionality individualized to each character; there are certain things that only characters with the associated 'power' can do (i.e. Mr. Freeze, Bane, Clayface, etc. all have super-strength and are the only characters able to perform certain tasks associated with strength). Also, there are a few different suits that Batman, Batgirl, and Robin get to wear, although the selection is significantly less than other platforms.
Another awesome aspect of this game, is that you get to go through all the levels twice. You play as the Heroes one time through, then as the villains.
The music, although slightly repetitive, is true Batman music (mostly based on the original score from Danny Elfman). It honestly makes you feel like you are in the Batman universe.
The downside is that we're dealing with the inferior technology of the DS. Therefore, they really had to make a very different game from the other platforms. I found this out by skimming some walkthroughs, and noticing that the gameplay they were discussing was very different from what I was experiencing.
Overall, it's an awesome game. During my time playing this game, I didn't play any other game. I was entertained enough to want to deviate.

My 6 year old son bought this game and loves it (as does his 8 year old brother). They were disappointed though that you can not do download play with this game unless both parties own the game. I did not see this detailed anywhere in the description so thought it should be pointed out.Customer Review: play as a heroe, or villain!

Where to start? I love everything about this game! I enjoyed playing as Joker, and Harley. When I was playing with Scarecrow, I felt like laughing mechanically. Just because I was playing the villains! Joker is my favorite villain in the Batman fandom. (not because of heath ledger) At first I thought I was stuck, but then I got the idea of the game. You have to find pieces of legos, build a latter for your partner so you can use your partner for certain things. Each character has a special ability. When you fall off a ledge, your character breaks, and you lose studs. I thought it was hilarious. The music is great too. Not an annoying song over and over. When you are in Arkham Asylum, I recognized the theme they used. From the original Batman. The scene where the Joker has that girl. I believe. Feel free to correct me! Not a Batman expert. But I did recognize a theme. The game is addicting. This game is 75% addicting. Buy it if you are a Batman fan, lego fan, or any game fan! You'll love it.
